The experience of club activities

I am a member of TV series Club. Before I join this club I am a big movie and TV series fan .l love watch movies and tv series especially Disney’s. Just Candy wanted set up a new club, so I joined it.
September, 22th is the first day of our TV series club activities. We watched ‘Prison break’ first. It was a little difficult for us to understand what were actors talking about, because we used to watch TV with Chinese subtitles , but that time we could only listened them talking to think what were they mean. The next activities are on 29th, but that day only about 6 people came, we did not know where other guys were. We watched Nania2 that day, and we felt the excited of Suan and her brothers and sister see Aslan ;felt the peaceful when Lucy dream about the forest ;enjoyed the quiet of Nania. Although it only cost us 1 hour but, we could achieve a lot .We could learn steadfast and persevering from Lucy and learn intelligence and clam from Susan. We watched happy trash videos at the next time. Almost everybody came to watch it and many videos made us laugh loudly, because they were so funny and the make the movie perfect to introduction their project. Then for about 2 weeks activities we watched the Simpson family for fun .It is a famous cartoon in the US every children even teenagers and soma adults are also like to watch the Simpson family . And on November, 18th we had our second meeting .It talked about what time we should come to join the club activities and what places we should arrive.
I think I join the TV series club is a good idea. Because I am no can only watch nice movies and TV Series in my free time, I can also test my English level and improve my own English skill. It’s great and attractive. Maybe some body thinks watch TV series and Movies are wasting time. But I think it is not true. I think if we understand what the actors were talking about; we can learn some slang, some colloquial sentences and make our pronunciation and intonation right.
We can also learn other country’s cultural by watch their Movies .By watching TV we can know their life immediate and make their life comparison to our life and cultural. So I think join TV series is a good idea .Whatever other think about this ,I will continuous to do this ,because I know the more I watch ,the more t learn.

physical activities~

As member of Grand Canadian Academy Badminton Club. have played badminton in Nanjing Normal University for 8 hours with my club mates and played badminton with my mum in Nanjing Baixia area sport center for 2 hours.
I joined the badminton club because I like playing badminton since a long time ago. But just like, not play very well. So I thought if I join badminton club, my playing badminton skill will be much better than before. In fact ,I really improve my playing badminton skill and I also had a lots of fun over there.
Jenny and Doris are both in Badminton Club too .Leo in Grade 11 is our club leader. Most of the time , we found our own partners and play with them . My partner is Jenny we played together for about 2 times and I played with Doris for once. Doris is really good at playing badminton, when played with her, I almost ran to the every corner of the field to get or pick the balls up. Because of this I improve my playing badminton skill quickly. Doris is really a good badminton player. But Doris joined the badminton team after the sport meeting.Beacause she is s member of GCA’s badminton team, she must practiced with other member of the team. We could not play badminton with her anymore.Jenny left badminton club later, I had no partner .Then I met Maggie from ten F. She is a nice girl .And she came to ask me if I can teach her how to get the ball immediately. Of course, I would not refuse to do that. Maggie is the fist friend I made in badminton club.
In January, 24th, I went to the sport center which called Baixia area sport center near my home to play badminton with my mum. My mum’s rikidozan is very small, so I must stand beside the web that could catch the ball.
I thought the first time I play badminton. That day my cousin came to my Grandparents’ home and invited me to play badminton at all . I did not know what badminton is and how to play it at all. So, the let me sat beside to watch them to play, and I learned how to playing badminton by myself.
Playing badminton in my opinion is very useful. It can make us have healthier bodies. And this sport can also increase the upper limb, lower limb and waist muscles, makes the blood run faster, increased lung capacity, improve endurance. These are very good for our bodies. I have a little problem with my back, when I play badminton my arms and legs can stretch widely, so it can makes me to relax my bones and nerves. And I have also gotten some treatment on the back of my back. When I finish playing badminton I can feel more relax and free than before.
This term I competed my job to finish 10 hours physical activities, but I think I am not to complete because I have to finish it . I like playing badminton, whatever it is a job or not. And I think I will play it forever.

To be a volunteer in nanjing blind children school

I am a member of Grand Canadian Academy sunlight volunteer club. From September of 2008 to January of 2009. I have already done more than 10 hours’ volunteer work in Nanjing Blind Children School. Our club leaders are Nick and Mooie who are both from Grade 12 of GCA.
Sunday, September, 28, 2008 is the first time I went to join the club activities. We centralized together at NFLS’s school gate before we went to the Blind Children School。 After everyone came Mooie divided us into two groups and organized us to go there. Nanjing Blind Children is near Confucius temple .Nick told us that our job was to teach Grade 3 students English and help them to review. Because they would have an English test on Monday. They had learned English for about three weeks and that was their first English test. But they only learned 26letters and some symbol words my student is a girl called yang yang shen .She is a very clever and modest girl, she could understand me very quickly and she is the top student of her class. We taught them how to sing the 26 English words song to help them to remember the letters easily and some more words about animal and food. We also taught them how to read them in right way with the right pronunciation.
After studying English ，we brought them to the play ground to play some little games and enjoy the sunshine
The next time we went there was on October, 5th I met a new girl in Blind Children School, she was eighteen years old but still studied in Grade 8 .She wanted Beryl and me to repeat the sentences on the tape slowly and translated them for her .That was an article about a student daily life and how does she go to school and what happened in her school. I think it was easy for us to do that for her. Then we walked down the steps and went to the playground. We sat beside the basketball stand and chatted with each other. She said she is very good at mimic some Chinese singers’ songs especially Jane Zhang’s《the world is unique》. She sang it for us, it was fantastic everyone clapped their hands and cheered for her.
After this term’s volunteer work, I learned lots of knowledge from it. Blind people are unlucky; they can not choose their bodies and can not change their unlikeness. We should not laugh at or look down on them because they are disable on their bodies ,but if we do bad things on them ,them will be very unhappy and inferiority of their selves. So it will make them have a disable mind. We should try our best to help them, make them understand the loves in the world and let them feel the warmth of the world. Maybe disable people can not change their bodies, but we can help them to change their mind make them happy, make them to love the world ,to love the life.

A dinner with Grade 12 students

We had a dinner with Mooie and Judy who come from grade 12. The restaurant we went is called “Bebbis ” It is a Swiss restaurant but I have never gone to a Swiss restaurant before. I was very expect about that .our group members are Jenny, Jerry, Bruce, Nelly, Rachel, James and so on
We arrived there at about 6 o’clock. And when all the people had come was about 6:30 P.M. everyone needed to spend 50 RMB that the waiter can divide a whole dinner for all of us. We had fruit pizza, beef pizza, chocolate chafing dish and so on. . When a new food came to the table, Mooie always told us the history of these foods and how to eat them. The cheese chafing dish gave me the deepest memory. The cheese is not like the normal cheese we ate in MacDonald, It has a little smell of wine, but it do not have alcohol at all . We used a fork to fork a piece of bread , put it in the hot cheese and stir for a little bit ,then can eat it . The first time I ate it ,I thought is terrible but after the second ,the third time I thought it became more and more delicious.
During the dinner time, Mooie and Judy all told us some interesting thing about their GCA life and how did they study. They promised if we have questions we can go and ask them for help.
I am very happy that I can have a such wonderful and peaceful dinner with my classmate and our leaders. We can not only have a good dinner but also can have a good relationship with each other. And I also made two new friend whose names are Moois and Judy.

THE SCULPTURE EXHIBITION WITH MS HARDLEY

The title of the exhibition is Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing University. Most of the artworks are sculptures. They were all made by one artist—Wu weishan . And the artwork contemporary .
My favorite artwork is called A little girl with two plaits. And was made at 2004. The title of this artwork is a little girl with plaits and the artist is Wu Weishan . It was made in 2004. The color of it is light brown because it was made by cooper. The Shape is like a little girl. She wears a shirt and a skirt, also has two queues. It is very small; the height of it is only 34 cm. Her head just like an invert triangle and her two plaits are downward. She have no eyes and nose, only has a smiling mouth. The lines of her head, neck, plaits and legs are very soft. But the lines of her shirt and skirt are coarse and the skirt even has many corrugations. I think the subject of this artwork is childhood. Because children often represent childhood and a girl with queues in china is a typical case of childhood.
The artwork made me happy and peaceful. It reminds me my childhood and the things I did when I was a little girl. Because her hands are clasped behind her back and mouth up. As usual, children often represent childhood and happiness. They make us happy all the time. It reminds me my children time .I think of when I played with a big black and white cat ，I caught ants and put them into a bottle and so on . Because the appearance of the little girl like me when I was 6years old. I think planning relates to it because Ms. Bartell used to show us some pictures of her primary school and told some experience in her primary school. I think the artist’s intention is to remind people’s memory of children time.
I like this artwork. Because it can make me happy and peaceful and also can reminds me my childhood. The little girl is always smiling, it can make me feel her happiness and let me relax. I think children are the simplest people in the world. They don’t have to fight for the work, money, power or something else. Their pure smiles can warm people’s heart, make people happy and forget the sadness or something bad. I think other people may appreciate this artwork or may not appreciate this artwork .Because, I think different people has different opinions and interested in different events , but I’m sure there have some else has the same idea as mine.

I enjoy this trip very much. And I enjoyed the sculptures are made by Wu weishan. I can feel new cultural from these sculptures. The curator told us a lots of history about these sculptures and we can know how did the artiest make the artwork, how does judges think about them. So we can learn much knowledge from this trip.

2008.12.1GUEST ARTIST

Yesterday afternoon the school leaders brought a garden design expert, Mr. Zhao. He taught us a lot of knowledge on Chinese gardens and the differences between Chinese landscape garden and foreign garden. We were so lucky that can have a chance to learn so much interesting and useful knowledge.
We all know, gardens are used to be a place for people to relax, but now garden can also protect and improve the environment. As we knew our Chinese garden has thousands of history .Suzhou Classical gardens are the typical example of Chinese garden. Humble Administrator's Garden building in Suzhou development of the peak. It has a far-reaching artistic conception and elegant art and culture, so that can be the model of many classical gardens in Suzhou. Humble Administrator's Garden and the Beijing’s Summer Palace, ChengDe Mountain Resort, Suzhou stay Park and were referred to as China's four major classical gardens.
Chinese gardens are always connect with Chinese Traditional
Culture, many gardens were originated from some ancient poetry and some poets also got inspiration from different gardens.
The Suzhou classical gardens made the Residential and the view in-one .SO that people can live in a very beautiful environment and pursuit the harmony with nature .
I was particularly struck by Mr. Zhao’s introduction about the different kinds of stones in these gardens. I remembered that Mr. Zhao said the stone in the gardens were not naturally occurring ，some of them were made by people.
And he also told us how to choose stones. The top and the middle of the stones should bigger than the bottom of the stone. If some stones are connect with each other they should make a hole between them that people walk through the hole and feel the artistic of the garden.
Different gardens have different themes and artistic, some are exquisite, some are magnificent. We all proud of our ancestors could make so many beautiful spiritual wealth.
I really enjoyed yesterday Mr. Zhao’s speech ,he taught a lot about gardens and we all got many Benefits from his speech!
